Caring Work

The Right to Life Charitable Trust works to provide care, financial and practical support for pregnant women in need, and actively supports the right of the sick and elderly to receive adequate care.

Family and Pregnancy

There remains a huge need for support services for women with unplanned pregnancies, many of whom do not qualify for government help or for the help provided by other caring services.

Some women do not speak much English and need assistance with social services, as well as in visits to hospitals and doctors. Apart from other needs we always provide them with all the essentials for a new baby: including bath, Moses basket and if necessary, a pram.

Impartial counselling

The Trust is affiliated to an independent and impartial counselling service based in Merseyside which is dedicated to supporting women facing an unplanned pregnancy, pregnancy loss or emotional difficulties following abortion. This counselling service is free and confidential and is also extended to men.

RTLCT aims to raise funds to train many more counsellors to extend the service nationwide. Counsellors follow the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) guidelines.

Sick and Elderly

The Right to Life Charitable Trust runs the Human Rights Care Card scheme which is used by the sick and elderly.

The scheme allows those carrying a Human Rights Care Card in hospital to ensure that food and fluids are not withdrawn from them with the purpose of causing death, a practice which has developed in some hospitals.

There have been a number of cases where the Trust has successfully intervened and ensured that patients carrying a Care Card remained adequately fed and hydrated.
